We believe in providing alternative treatments for those who prefer a natural approach to better health, or for those who prefer to try other approaches before resorting to medications.
Neurofeedback is a type of biofeedback in which individuals are trained to improve their brain function. Very sensitive sensors are used to detect brainwave activity, which is analyzed by a computer in real-time. The computer then presents sound and video information based on the brain's performance. Using this feedback, clients are able to learn to control their brains.
Psychotherapy is a form of talk therapy that uses evidence-based approaches to help manage emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. Dr. Drury has extensive training helping clients with these struggles. She uses third generation behavioral therapies, including mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT - pronounced as one word). She also has extensive training in treatments for PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), including empirically supported Prolonged Exposure Therapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy.
Research shows that lifestyle choices have a greater impact on mental health and brain function than we previously thought. We believe that "non-sick" is not the same thing as "healthy". Physical health is only the first step to creating a life you love. We help you understand your goals, examine the reality of your life right now, and then establish habits to support your best life.
